We continue to daven to Hashem for the safety of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. May peace and tranquility be restored quickly.

Early Childhood Department

Ganon Gimmel was so fascinated by the animals in Parshat Noach, we decided to learn about ocean animals and life under the water. We created our very own aquarium in the classroom complete with a research center, fish art, a tank for fish to live in, and more! Our class is now taking care of two Beta fish, Nemo and Bubbles. Our games even involve aquatic life! When practicing our one to one correspondences, we have been placing fish on the numbers! We are so excited to learn and play!

Gan Daled children were filled with excitement as they observed the changes in the environment during the fall season. We gathered leaves and creatively utilized them as stamps to create a beautiful backdrop for our fall poem. Inspired by our discussions and a shared fall poem, we created our own unique poem, reflecting our individual perspectives and imaginations.

This week, Gan students learned about the Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian. Our young artists then got to work and painted their very own Mondrian creations!

Lower School

In honor of Parshat Vayera, first graders transformed a classroom into a desert oasis. Each child had a role in the mitzvah of Hachnasat Orchim in their re-created ohel Avraham. Sarah and Avraham, Yishmael, the three malachim, the cooks, and the Klezmer band were on hand to welcome all of their guests to the tent. They even shared a snack with all of their guests. A great time was had by all!

In the second-grade community unit, our students explored urban, suburban, and rural communities. They gained great understanding of the different features that set them apart. This unit also included map skills and cardinal directions using a compass rose. The highlight of the unit was the culminating project, where our students put their knowledge to the test by designing their own communities. This STEM project included engineering, working as partners, and guiding Hex Bug Robots through each group's miniaturized community road. This experience provided invaluable insights into our communities.

4B and 4C have joined the Jews in Sefer Yehoshua on their exciting journey over the course of the year. They will put themselves in the "Jews shoes" as they go through the ups and downs of entering the land of Eretz Yisrael.

In the fifth-grade STEM elective, students delved into the world of 3D printing using Tinkercad software to craft a wide array of bubble wands, showcasing their creativity and engineering skills. Once printed, the students embarked on an outdoor bubble party, experiencing the joy of seeing their unique designs produce bubbles of different shapes and sizes. The students relished the design and engineering journey and are now eagerly anticipating their next adventure: coding drones in our upcoming STEM unit. The future looks promising for these budding innovators.

SEL UPDATE

Fifth graders partnered up to find the differences and similarities between a series of images presented to them. This challenge led us into a conversation about the mitzvah of “v’ahavta l'reacha kamocha” and our ability to find common ground and love for the people around us, no matter how different we may seem. We also reviewed the fact that thoughts can impact our feelings and behaviors, an important understanding to aid us in relating to ourselves and others in a more positive way!
