MEET VERONICA HILL

Sr. Sales Executive, Courtyard & Residence Inn, Marina del Rey

Tell us about your current role and your history working in the LAX Coastal community.

I am currently the Sr. Sales Executive at the Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott Marina del Rey. My history with LAX Coastal Chamber started 20+ years ago in the career of hospitality in the city of El Segundo, California.

Tell us about what you love most about your work at the Residence Inn & Courtyard Marina del Rey.

What I love the most about my job is that I am able to assist a wide range of people with their hospitality needs. It is so rewarding knowing that I was able to fulfill their need and ensure their experience in the Marina or L.A. is the absolute best!

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I am an introvert. Hospitality has been a great industry for my development. It challenges me daily to come out of my shell by making authentic friendships with my colleagues and creating meaningful interactions with all those that visit Marina del Rey.

What do you feel is critical for the business community to know about fostering a more inclusive culture?

Promoting cultural awareness and celebrating diversity are crucial for creating a more inclusive culture. For instance, I got the chance to discuss with my colleagues the different contributions that Black Americans have made, such as the origination of Hidden Valley Ranch - Ranch Dressing and the recipe of Jack Daniels by way of Uncle Nearest. We have so much in common that there's no reason to keep things between us and to be closed off.

What are most excited about for this upcoming year?

I am looking forward to seeing the Intuit Dome and the Automated People Mover (APM) at LAX come to fruition this year for us to enjoy.
