HOSPITALITY ENERGY UPDATE
Hotels and restaurants have been among the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Thursday, October 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Florida Power & Light (FPL) will host a free webinar led by Andy Marin, their director of major and governmental accounts. He will discuss ways to increase your “Energy IQ,” how to save on your next energy bill, understanding smart energy usage during the pandemic, and FPL’s free resources, solutions and more. The discussion will be moderated by Dan Murphy, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association's senior vice president of corporate relations and membership.

BONUS: One lucky webinar attendee will win a $15,000 Business Energy Makeover courtesy of FPL. Can’t watch the webinar live? A recording will be sent to all registrants following the event. Any individual or business can participate in the webinar, but only FPL customers who pre-register for the webinar before October 22, 2020 at 10:29 a.m. and activate the Business Energy Manager on FPL.com by October 29, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. will be eligible for the $15,000 Business Energy Makeover.

SEEKING PRIZES FOR GOLF CLASSIC
It's that time of year again! The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is right around the corner - on Nov 6 - and we are seeking items for our silent auction and in-person prize drawings. This is an easy way to get your business in front of 132 golfers! A basket, gift certificate, single item - whatever you are able to donate is very much appreciated!

Our golf tournament is a local tradition for many of our members, selling out year after year, and we could really use your help keeping it a success. The golfers love and support the auction and drawing, and frequently use this part of the event to get started on their holiday shopping!

If you are able to donate a prize, please contact Debra DeHaven, Debra@fortmyers.org, 239.332.2930. We can arrange pick-up if need be, or prizes can be delivered to: Greater Fort Myers Chamber Of Commerce, 2310 Edwards Drive, Fort Myers, Florida, 33901. Please note that our office is open M-F 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and there is free parking in front of the building.
ALL ABOUT THE BUSINESS SUMMIT
The Chamber’s Business Summit is taking on a new format this year. We are embarking on a multi-day virtual event with sessions strategically placed at 8:00 a.m., noon and 4:00 p.m. to limit the effect on your workday. The Business Summit begins at noon on Monday, November 16 and concludes on Thursday, November 19 at 1:15 p.m.

We launch with an inspirational keynote from Christin Collins, are presenting a special session on implicit bias with Tessa LeSage from FutureMakers Coalition, and conclude on Thursday, with a hopeful message for 2021 from Charly Caldwell.

In between there are 18 topics to choose from over three days, with all sessions led by Chamber member businesses!

Participants can be on 1 live session per time slot on each day, and will receive recordings of ALL sessions! $75 per person for Chamber members and $99 for future members.

SPEND LOCAL IN NOV(M)EMBER!
Our "Spend Local in Nov(m)ember" campaign launches on Nov(m)ember 1st and is all about encouraging the community to shop local and support Chamber member businesses.

Please consider putting something together that we can share through our newsletters, website and social media. We know times have been tough so we are not asking for free items or even a discount (unless that works for your business model). It is more about creating something that someone could purchase as a gift, or entices them to spend locally.

You don’t have to be a retailer either! Here are some examples of what fellow Members are doing for Nov(m)ember:

Offshore Sailing School - 10% savings on 2-day or 5-day Learn to Sail Course for Florida residents through January 31, 2021; or May 1 to December 19, 2021. Choose either Captiva Island or Fort Myers Beach, Florida, location.

3 Pepper Burrito Company - Free Bud Light draft or fountain soda with the purchase of an entrée at Downtown Fort Myers location only (expires 11/30/2020)

Hodges University - waiving application fees through December 31, 2020

Personal Touch Landscaping - no delivery fee with red or brown mulch installation

Captiva Island Inn - gift certificates available for the Inn or on-site restaurants; bottle of wine given at check-in for every certificate sold $150 or higher at the Inn

Nothing Bundt Cakes - free Bundlet with purchase of 2 Bundtlets, $5 off purchase of $25 of more (expires 11/30/20)

WearTheFund - get 5% off your first order on company gifts, custom apparel/uniforms, and promotional merchandise. Plus, a percentage of every order is donated to the charity of your choice

Email Debra what your company is doing so we can feature it in Nov(m)ember promotions!
