The North Shore Reads

Due to a larger than anticipated registration this year, there is currently a waiting list. Please join the waiting list if you are interested in attending as we are doing what we can to accommodate everyone who would like to attend.

Join us this Spring for the 2023 North Shore Reads, a local celebration of L.I. Reads and National Library Week! Come and enjoy an evening of lively book discussion and exciting raffle prizes.


This entertaining evening has become a popular, annual event for book lovers from eight public libraries; Bayville, Bryant (Roslyn), Glen Cove, Gold Coast, Locust Valley, Manhasset, Oyster Bay - East Norwich, and Sea Cliff.


This year’s selection is A Speck in the Sea: A Story of Survival and Rescue by John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinki.

The North Shore Schools Wants Your Feedback on Priorities and Goals

The Library is hosting “Conversations with Chris,” with the Superintendent of the North Shore Schools. Join School Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis for an informal conversation, ask questions, and participate in important discussions about our community and schools.

New Fiction Books Being Released in April

freegal music has a new look!

Freegal is a downloadable and streaming music service available with your Gold Coast Library card. All you need is your library barcode number.

Freegal offers access to over 15 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.

Thomas Germano Presents

Van Gogh's Cypress Trees

Van Gogh’s Cypresses is the first exhibition to focus on the trees that Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) immortalized through his paintings. The Metropolitan Museum of Art will showcase Wheat Field with Cypresses and The Starry Night (MoMA) , the two centerpieces in an exhibition that includes 40 works illuminating the extent of the Dutch artist’s fascination with Southern France’s distinctive flame-like evergreens. This exhibit will be at the Met from 5/22 through 8/27. Don't miss Professor Thomas Germano's visual lecture about Van Gogh and this very specialized look at his revered motif, The Cypresses.

DNA for Dog Lovers

Paper Shredding

Saturday, April 22nd, 9am - noon

A Shred Away helps you shred your personal documents safely and securely! So you'll know what to expect, here are the guidelines for the day:


1) The truck is located against the LIRR sidewalk directly across from the Library. Library

Staff and A Shred Away representatives are there to help you with your items. Service is first come, first-served, and typically takes only a few minutes per person. You don't need to arrive at 9am;  arrive at anytime within the 3-hour timeframe. The truck leaves promptly at noon.


2) When you arrive, drive directly up to the truck or line up behind the cars ahead of you. When it is your turn, Library Staff will take your items up to the truck. We ask that you wait until your items have been shredded and we will return your bags and boxes to you.


3) In order to accommodate everyone, we ask that you bring no more than 5 boxes or bags at one time. If you need to bring more than 5, you are welcome to come back multiple times. We may also be able to allow more during lulls in the

line. Also, you must take your boxes or bags home.


4) All forms of paper are accepted, including manila folders; but NO HANGING FOLDERS of any kind, particularly if they contain metal clips.

Defensive Driving

Tuesday, May 2nd, 9am - 3pm

Drivers who complete The Empire Safety Council’s 6-Hour Defensive Driving Course save 10% on their liability, personal injury protection, and collision insurance for THREE YEARS and may reduce up to FOUR points on their driving record.

A $30 check or money order payable to Empire Safety Council is due at time of registration at the Library Circulation Desk. Please bring a brown bag lunch to class.
