Letter from Private Peter Brown

"If we should be called again to action, I hope to have courage and strength to act my part valiantly in defense of our Liberties & Country."

— Peter Brown

In this letter from 25 June 1775, Peter Brown writes to his mother Sarah Brown about his experiences fighting in the battles of Concord and Bunker Hill.

Private Brown, who came from Westford, Massachusetts, describes himself as "hearty

in the cause," and his writing provides an intimate perspective on what life was like as an American soldier serving within the Revolution's ranks.
