Historical Fact

The Gold Hill School is the oldest continually operating school in Colorado. The elementary school first opened its doors in the fall of 1873 as a one-room log schoolhouse that also operated as a church on Sundays. The original school was dismantled in 1890 and was replaced by a larger one-room framed structure that continues to be used as the homeroom for grades 3-5 today.
