Volunteer Spotlight
Gloria Sanchez, Tax Aide volunteer since 2014.
A 1968 A&M graduate with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Social Welfare.
Retired: From Children & Family Services after 29 years and 5 months
Hobbies: Traveling and Reading
Why do you volunteer? “It’s just who I am. I will do anything to help someone in need and give them 110%.” Gloria's background in social work inspired her to be a volunteer. “I love to do taxes, so why not help here at TSC.” Before assisting with tax preparation at TSC, Gloria volunteered many years, with H&R Block for 10 years, and Guardian ad Litem for 4 years. She likes to help others every chance that she gets.
Fun Fact: Gloria was a Senior Center Coordinator (like Sheila’s position) in Ventura, California for 7 years.
Thank you Gloria!

Did you know that you can cut your tax bill by donating to a good cause?
You may find that you do not need all of the money the government is requiring you to take. Consider using some of it for a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). The IRA Charitable Distribution allows individuals age 70½ and older to make direct transfers, up to $100,000 per year, to 501(c)(3) charities such as the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation, and avoid taxation on the income otherwise received. Talk with your IRA administrator.
It’s a win-win - reduce your tax bill while supporting the good work we do at the Senior Center!
