The Riley House was constructed circa 1890 on the fringe of an African American community called Smokey Hollow. Its owner, John Gilmore Riley, was born in 1857 on a plantation in what is now downtown Tallahassee. Mr. Riley rose to prominence as an educator and civic leader and in 1892 he became principal of the Lincoln Academy where he served until his retirement in 1926.

Consider an IRA Charitable Rollover
Your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) = tax free charitable contribution. Taxpayers, age 70½ or older who are required to withdraw IRA funds may donate a portion of your RMD directly to an eligible charity, such as the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation, and not have to pay taxes. Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA by the IRA trustee to a charitable organization, counts toward your minimum distribution requirement for the year and is nontaxable.
Contact your IRA administrator to direct a charitable distribution on your behalf. Sample IRA Charitable Distribution letter
