21st Annual Smith Point "Bridge to Beach" 5K Run for Literacy
Saturday, 9/10, 9:00 AM 

Save the date! The beautiful ocean and white sand beach at Smith Point County Park offer a scenic backdrop for the 5K Run for Literacy on Saturday, September 10, at 9 AM. We are pleased to announce that this year’s “Bridge to Beach” race is taking place in-person and virtually. 

Outdoor Movie: Legally Blonde

All ages are welcome to this Outdoor Movie Night, sponsored by the Teen Department. Register to watch Legally Blonde in the yard at the Mastic Recreation Center, 15 Herkimer St, Mastic. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

Sprinkler Play

Wear your bathing suit and sunscreen, and bring a towel! Meet us at the Mastic Recreation Center, 15 Herkimer Street, Mastic. Children 1-5 years with their adult. No older siblings, please. 





Tail Waggin' and Reading Fun!

Tuesday, 8/30, 4:30 - 6:00 PM


Children entering grades 1-7 are invited to drop in and read their favorite book to a certified therapy dog. This activity helps strengthen reading skills while children gain confidence in reading out loud. No registration is required.

On the Road: Sandcastles @ Smith Point Beach

Wednesday, 8/31, 5:30 - 7:30 PM


Meet up with library staff on the sand in front of Tiki Joes at Smith Point Beach for sandcastles and summer fun! Families with children entering grade 7 or younger. Weather permitting.

Evening Nature Walks at Smith Point

Tuesday, 8/30,  6:00 - 8:00 PM


Meet with library staff at the Flight 800 Memorial to take an evening walk on the trails and the beach. Remember to wear sunblock and bug spray if needed. Bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes! Open to all. Weather Permitting. No registration is necessary.



Gentle Yoga for Beginners

Tuesday, 8/30, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

 

Gentle Yoga with Krista will offer practice with beginners in mind or anyone looking to find some extra room to breathe and decompress. With a focus on breath awareness, connecting breath and movement, and creating length and strength in the body. Modifications will be suggested for different abilities. Helpful props: yoga mat or nonslip surface, strap (belt), cushion, and a blanket.
