Book Discussion: Nine Perfect Strangers

The story centers on a formerly best-selling author, Frances, and the eight strangers she meets on a 10-day health and wellness retreat at Tranquillum House. When Frances arrives at the retreat, she learns that, in addition to not being allowed coffee, wine, junk food, or cell phones, the guests will also not be permitted to talk to each other for the first five days.
During a meditation session on the first day, the guests meet Masha, the director of Tranquillum House. She tells her guests about her near-death experience, a moment that transformed her life and led her on the path to health and wellness.  What Masha’s nine guests don’t realize is that they are part of a new wellness protocol she’s implementing during this retreat. See, Masha is tired of changing people temporarily. This time, she’s going to transform her guests’ lives permanently.
Copies of the book are available at the Mastic Recreation Center.

Meet up with the library staff for a treasure hunt! Geocaching is a worldwide activity where you search for tiny containers with GPS coordinates and hints. Some caches are very tiny and can only fit the find-log, whereas other caches are filled with tiny knick-knacks and trinkets which can be taken or traded. Sign your name on the log inside to document your find, and then log it onto your Geocaching app to keep track of your successes!

Our treasure hunt will be at Sans Souci County Park on Broadway Ave in Sayville. Meet us in the parking lot. Bring a pen, your phone, and good walking shoes! Weather permitting.
