This Week in Danville...
July 21 - July 27, 2019
Meet Our Members: Kay Roth, Merle Norman Cosmetics
" Merle Norman is a cosmetic company that has been in business for 89 years this November. All stores are independently owned and the company has been incredible from the start.

While living in Indiana, I owned a Merle Norman for just over 10 years. My family and I decided to move back to Danville to be closer to our parents. I loved the community so much that I decided to open a Merle Norman on Mill Street. This year marks four exciting years that I have owned Merle Norman Studio & Boutique.

In addition to cosmetics, we also carry a few lines of apparel, handbags, jewelry, and Scout bags. We hold events throughout the year to add fun and interest to the studio as well as the downtown.

Join us at 498 Mill Street, for our luau to celebrate our 4-year anniversary this Saturday, July 27, 9 am - 8 pm. with food, discounts, and giveaways!

Danville is such a great town with so much potential and it has been a true blessing, but I must admit it was a little scary. Thank you to all who have supported me and my business by shopping local throughout the years."
Tickets Still Available for Service 1st’s 8th Annual Charity Duck Derby

WHO: Service 1st Federal Credit Union

WHAT: Service 1st’s 8th Annual Charity Duck Derby

WHEN: Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11 am – 12:30 pm

WHERE: Danville/Riverside Bridge, Danville, PA 17821

WHY: Funds raised by this year’s Derby will be combined with those raised during Service 1st’s 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament being held on Friday, August 23 to benefit The Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Bridges Out of Poverty, and the Mifflinburg Hose Company.
Bring the kids and enjoy balloons, children’s activities, refreshments, including treats from Snowy Summers Shaved Ice & Sweet Treats! Plus, visit with our mascot Crissie and cheer with her as the duckies race down the Susquehanna River!

“Due to the amount of rain our area has been receiving, river levels and the river’s current are much stronger than normal,” said Brett Johnson, Vice President Lending, Service 1st and 2019 Service 1st Duck Derby Committee Co-Chairperson. “Due to these conditions, Service 1st has made some modifications to the event so everyone can still enjoy a fun time at the Derby and we can ensure the safety of our volunteers. We welcome everyone to join us Saturday, August 3 in the parking lot located near Zamboni Park on West Front Street in Danville.”

During Saturday’s event, six finalists will be randomly selected from over 3,000 rubber duckies. These rubber duckies will be placed into the river to race for first place.
Adults age 18 and over can purchase a single duck for $5, or a flock of five ducks for $20 and you can purchase as many as you would like. Tickets are on sale at all Service 1st branch locations and online through July 31. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the event.

Each ticket number corresponds with a duck. If your ticket number matches the first five ducks to cross the finish line, you could win up to $500! There is also a fun prize for the last duckie to cross the finish line. Come out on August 3 at 11 am to enjoy the festivities. The race will begin at noon.
A special thank you to this year’s sponsors: B.Z. Motors, Bear Rental, Chip Adams Sewer & Drain Cleaning, Dollar Associates, LLC, Eastern Revenue, Inc., Inlighten, Kornerstone Custom Builders, Members 1st FCU, and Susquehanna Life Magazine.

For more information, stop by any Service 1st location, visit  service1.org , or call 800.562. 6049.
