Montour Preserve in Jeopardy
The Montour Preserve, a beautiful recreation area that many individuals utilize each year, is in jeopardy of closing. Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC) has worked to raise funds - a goal of $200,000 - to maintain the preserve, but fell very short raising only $30,692.25. Since news of the financial crisis, Talen Energy and county commissioners have stepped forward and are working to help MARC find a solution.

While the fate of the preserve is "bleak," there is still hope that making the public aware of MARC's situation will call the community and businesses to action. MARC was approached by a prospective buyer of some of the land has potential to create a new partnership to save some of the recreation land.

The Montour Preserve is a vital component to our community for those that live, work, or visit from surrounding communities both near and far. If your wish to contribute to this cause, you can donate by following the link below.
