The first bikeway, Market-to-Midtown, is an 18-month pilot project organized between Bike Walk Nebraska, Metro Smart Cities and City of Omaha.

In an effort to support safer and more attractive ridership options for people riding bikes and scooters across the region, Metro Smart Cities, alongside Bike Walk Nebraska, are teaming up to build two protected bikeways as pilot projects in order to collect and analyze data pertaining to street ridership behavior. A protected bikeway provides a physical barrier between the rider and the street.

The Market-to-Midtown Bikeway will be built between 10th Street and Turner Boulevard on Harney Street in Omaha.
