Disaster Resistant Senior Class
Evacuation from the Glade and Abandoning Your Car
Part of the Disaster Resistant Senior Series

Join Fairfield Glade Police for this no cost, fast moving, informative program designed to help residents become "Disaster Resistant."  Our last session looked at getting stuck on the road or stuck at home in a disaster. This session examines the challenge of becoming mobile in an emergency.

Evacuation from the Glade could be required for many reasons.  If you had to get out and stay away for several days, what would you need to take?  How would you handle medical needs? What if your spouse has limited mobility?
What kind of things should be in a "Go Bag" to make evacuation more comfortable? And, when the roads are blocked, what are alternate routes out of the Glade?

Our second focus builds on being stuck on the highway.  What if you have to abandon your car and walk to safety?
Can you handle walking in the snow, rain, or heat of summer to get to safety?

Learn what it takes to be prepared to leave your home on short notice, or abandon your car during a highway disaster.
Tailored to the unique needs of  seniors and Fairfield Glade, this edition of Disaster Resistant Seniors looks at: what should be in your Go Bag; evacuation routes, emergency communications, dealing with heat and cold, how to build a Get Home Bag for the car and so much more!

Be sure to join us in the Multi-Purpose / Library building at 1pm Thursday, April, 6, 2017.
The class is free, but seating is limited.  Call 484-3722 to reserve your seat!
