Please join MASU in congratulating University of Michigan-Dearborn Interim Chancellor Gabriella Scarlatta on the announcement of her selection as the permanent Chancellor by U-M President Domenico Grasso! Chancellor Scarlatta’s recommended appointment will be considered by the U-M Board of Regents later this month. She previously served as UM-Dearborn Provost and the chair of the MASU Academic Affairs Officers committee.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (May 2026)

In 2025, 45% of Michigan colleges and universities implemented a 100% tobacco-free or smoke-free campus policy, up from 37% in 2022. Institutions with policies that prohibit e-cigarettes increased from 70.6% to 87%. Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable illness and death in Michigan.
