CC Shaw presents Weisberg honor

CCM's Joseph Weisberg Honored


The County Commissioners honored Joseph S. Weisberg in recognition of 40+ years of dedicated service to Parsippany-Troy Hills, the County College of Morris and all of Morris County. “This resolution lists the many things that Dr. Weisberg has done, but what it doesn’t do is measure the lives that he’s impacted which are innumerable," said Commissioner Stephen Shaw. Former County Administrator John Bonanni accepted on behalf of Dr. Weisberg, who joined the event online with his family.

Morris County Clerk’s Office Employee Retires After 35 Years 


The Board of County Commissioners has honored Denise Leffler, an employee who is retiring after a 35-year career with the Morris County Clerk's Office. The long-time employee was presented with a framed resolution outlining her public service during a luncheon hosted by County Clerk Ann Grossi earlier this week. Morris County wishes Denise a long and happy retirement!

Commissioners Approve $5 Million Grant for Drew Forest Tract


The Morris County Commissioners approved the $5 million recommended by the Morris County Open Space Trust Fund Committee to assist Madison Borough in acquiring and preserving a 51-acre forest section of Drew University known as Drew Forest. It was the only Open Space application received and presented in 2023.

Two Trail Projects Recommended for Morris County Funding


The Morris County Commissioners received a recommendation on Monday to award grants totaling more than $300,000 to construct two town trails as part of the eight-year-old Morris County Trail Construction Grant Program. The projects include small but significant trails slated in Madison and Morristown.

United Way Seeks Holiday Cheer for People in Need 


United Way of Northern New Jersey needs help with its annual holiday gift-giving program, which benefits children, teens, adults with special needs, and senior citizens. More than 6,000 gifts are donated annually. Go to the United Way 34th Annual Gifts of the Season website to learn more.

Recycling cheat sheet for your kitchen.

CLEAN is the keyword: Dirty or greasy recyclables turn the whole lot into trash.

MCMUA only accepts plastics labeled #1, #2 and #5. Throw out the others.

Recycle clean aluminum food trays.

Don't bag your recyclables!

Don't tie your newspapers.

Pizza boxes are trash.

— Take-out coffee and soda cups are trash, even if they have the right number.

Shredded paper is trash.

— Items like hoses, wire and hangers break recycling machinery. Toss 'em.

Drop off used cooking oil in Mt. Olive.

Recycle plastic bags at supermarkets.

When in doubt, throw it out!

Frelinghuysen Mansion Hosts Festival of Trees, Gala Kick Off


Morris County Park Commission's Festival of Trees opens Dec. 8 at the newly renovated mansion at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown. Admission is $10.

Morris Parks Alliance kicks off the season with their annual Holiday House Fundraiser. On Dec. 8, enjoy a first look at this year’s Festival of Trees with a horse and carriage ride, entertainment and refreshments. Attendance is capped at 100 people.

The Willows Mansion Transforms into a Winter Wonderland


Get into the spirit of the holidays at Fosterfield's Willow Wonderland Dec. 2-3. Tour the mansion decorated for different decades of Christmas, talk to costumed interpreters and watch live cooking demos at both the mansion and the 1915 farmhouse. Create a holiday craft, take a wagon ride and visit the animals in the barnyard. Pose for a photo with Santa. The cost is $10 per person, children 2 and under are free. Pre-register.

SMCMUA serves Morristown and surrounding towns.
