Museums Begin Opening in Orange County

Museums in Southern California — and Orange County in particular — have been hard hit by the yearlong closures due to COVID-19.

But slowly, slowly, they are opening back up again, with safety protocols and 25% limited capacity in place. Here's a look at a couple of Orange County museums and one city-run art gallery that have opened or are opening soon.

SCR Announces a Live Mini Season of Streaming, Outdoor Events

Responding creatively to the pandemic, South Coast Repertory announced an innovative 2021 spring/summer season today which will be a mix of streamed and outdoor events.

The company is the first major performing arts organization to announce a season of performances for live audiences. Pacific Symphony has begun to perform together live in weekly performances at the Segerstrom Concert Hall for a streaming audience; however, a live audience is not yet included in their plan.

Orange County has officially been upgraded to Tier 2 of the California Re-Opening Plan, aka the Red Tier, which allows for many local arts and culture venues, including museums and movie theatres, to re-open on a limited basis. Arts Orange County will include re-opening businesses in its recommendations while continuing to spotlight virtual and streaming offerings. While the news is worth celebrating, we encourage everyone to keep their lives enriched by the arts safely! Save lives by wearing masks, respecting social distancing protocols, and, as soon as eligible, securing a vaccination appointment
