Laguna Playhouse Celebrates Its 100th Birthday in 2020

There's something about reaching the century mark that captures our imaginations, excites us, and makes us sit up and take notice. We revere and admire people who live to the age of 100. So, what about entities – companies, nations, organizations?

Hard to imagine people creating a body that's around for 100 years. Even more so if that body is fueled by something as ephemeral as the arts.

So the fact that Laguna Playhouse was launched in 1920 and is still here, delivering live theater uninterrupted, is something worth noting.

In fact, it's worth celebrating. If you love the arts, shout this from the rooftops. If you especially love the performing arts, raise the volume. And if theater is your bag, this now-centenarian's survival should have you ecstatic.

Ways to Celebrate the Holiday Season in the Year of Coronavirus

In this crazy year of COVID-19, we can still enjoy the arts, culture and food while adhering to restrictions that are meant to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Orange County has returned to Tier 1 of the California Re-Opening Plan, precipitating the closure of many of Orange County's arts and culture organizations and venues. In addition, this week a curfew for non-essential activities after 10pm was instituted by the state government. Arts Orange County will continue to spotlight a mix of virtual and streaming arts and culture offerings along with in-person events that conform to the most current safety guidelines. We encourage everyone to keep their lives enriched by the arts, but safely! Save lives by wearing masks and respecting social distancing protocols.
