Arts in California Could See a Renaissance Thanks to Huge Influx of State Funding

The devastation wrought by the pandemic has paved the way for a once-in-a-lifetime windfall for the arts in Orange County and throughout California, thanks to a fiscal year state budget for 2021-22 which allocates some $615 million in funds, including more than $120 million in funding for the state’s designated arts agency, the California Arts Council (CAC).

After Going Virtual Last Year, Orange's International Street Fair Returns

The historic downtown district of Old Towne Orange was less hectic than usual last September, as festivities for the Orange International Street Fair were held virtually due to COVID-19. For Labor Day weekend 2021, the fair returns to the plaza and surrounding streets.

Regarding COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Lochrie said, "We have signage at every entrance noting that masks are required for those who are unvaccinated. OISF also has masks and hand sanitizer available upon request at the information booth."

In response to the Delta variant of COVID-19 and the latest health and safety guidance, many major O.C. performing arts venues and organizations have announced that guests at their events will be required to wear masks and confirm that they are vaccinated in order to attend. Be sure to check directly with the venue for their requirements before going. The arts in Orange County are re-awakening, but your cooperation and safe participation as audience members is essential! Arts Orange County is proud to recommend a variety of both in-person and virtual ways to bring the arts into your life.
