The University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media has hired award-winning journalist Marshall Ramsey as the inaugural director of the Mississippi Media Lab. Ramsey, who serves as Mississippi Today editor-at-large, will lead the new lab that promises to connect student-produced news content with media outlets around the nation. He will also work as civic coordinator of the Jordan Center for Journalism Advocacy and Innovation at UM. Read more

The University of Mississippi campus will be all abuzz with activities April 12 as it hosts its annual Mississippi Day. This ultimate outdoor open house will celebrate and showcase the opportunities the flagship offers. The event will be open 10 am–2 pm on the Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union Plaza, The Circle, and Business Row. This free event is open to the public and will have shuttles running from parking at the Ford Center and Tad Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss Class Explores Bob Dylan's Deep Cultural Influence

Unique Ole Miss course examines singer-songwriter's connection to the region


University of Mississippi students have had as eclectic and iconic an experience as Bob Dylan himself as they study the musician's relationship to The South. What began as an aha moment with the realization that more than 70 of Dylan's 600 songs relate to the region and its culture turned into the class titled Bob Dylan and The South, taught by R.J. Morgan, instructional associate professor of journalism and director of the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association.

Baptist and MississippiCare host second Mississippi Opioid Summit in Oxford


More than 200 addiction medicine, social services and law enforcement professionals registered to attende


Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, ARcare Chief Strategy Officer Joey Flowers, and Baptist Memorial Health Care Vice President/Chief Transformation Officer Derick Ziegler were the opening speakers for the event. Fitch explained the scope of Mississippi’s fentanyl problem, sharing that more than 200 people died from fentanyl overdoses in Mississippi in 2023. Read more
