Waltham's Response & Needs to COVID-19: A Perspective from Colleagues in Our Community
|
|
Wednesday, April 29
12:00 p.m.
Join community leaders from Waltham to learn about how the city is coming together to support our local community through this pandemic. We will look at some of the most critical issues facing Waltham during this public health crisis and explore ways we as the Brandeis community can continue to engage. You will leave this session with ideas and opportunities of how you may be able to support our community now and in the upcoming months. Our guest speakers include:
- Suzi Solomon, WATCH CDC
- Kaytie Dowcett, Waltham Partnership for Youth
- Jonathan Goldman, Waltham Mutual Aid Network
Participants will be able to ask questions, offer suggestions, and share their ideas with professionals who are on the ground doing this important work. This event is open to all members of the Brandeis community. RSVP is not required but is preferred so that we have a headcount and can troubleshoot if we have technology challenges. Please register using
this link
and share questions that you would like our panelists to address.

Traditional Chinese Papercutting Workshop

May 1
12:00 p.m.
Decorate your windows with the traditional Chinese folk art of paper cutting. Amy Chen '22 will teach you 窗花 or "window flower" design, used to decorate the house and ward off evil spirits during the Spring Festival. This design is usually attached to the windows so that it can be viewed from both inside and outside of the house. All you need is paper and scissors. We will use red paper if you have it, to represent celebration, vitality, and good luck. Check out the
Community Service instagram

Virtual Volunteer Opportunity with Change for Kids
|
|
Change for Kids, a youth development organization based out of NYC, has moved all programming to a digital platform: CFK | Digital. The platform is now live, free and open to the public. CFK | Digital includes a library section of recorded videos and activities and a place for students to sign-up for our live, interactive classes. Every week we are adding new content to the library. There are opportunities to pre-record reading a picture book or lesson for elementary school kids.

Meals on Wheels Temporary Jobs & Volunteers Needed
|
|
Meals on Wheels Drivers deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors Monday - Friday. The Meals on Wheels Program is one of many programs Minuteman Senior Services offers to support seniors who want to age independently within their own homes and communities.
As a Meals on Wheels Driver, you will do much more than deliver a meal -- you will provide a friendly contact that will brighten the lives of homebound seniors. Drivers serve as our eyes and ears, often reporting health and well-being concerns before they become a crisis.
You will see many smiling, grateful faces among the seniors on your route.
