Join the Kindness Day Committee!
Do you like spreading kindness? We want your help to make Kindness Day 2020 special. Kindness day is a yearly celebration of something that happens every day at Brandeis. This year, it will look a little different, but we will continue the tradition of coming together to spread and celebrate kindness. We are looking for peers who are excited to help us plan and implement the 11th annual kindness day. We welcome students who are both on and off-campus this semester.

Find out more and fill out an interest form here. Join us at the involvement fair on August 30th to learn more!

Community Partner Opportunities
Waltham Girl Scout Troop is Hiring!
We're looking for a strong, female-identifying leader to join our Girl Scout leadership team this fall! Due to COVID, you will be leading meetings and activities remotely for the time-being. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain a unique hands-on experience working with youth, the Waltham community, and become a better leader yourself.

We work with high-school aged young women from Waltham, engaging them in activities to empower themselves, and encouraging them to develop strong leadership skills. (Also there are Girl Scout cookies involved, so there's that!)

If you're interested, please fill out this short application by Friday, August 28th! If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]!

***P.S.- You do not need to have been a Girl Scout when you were younger in order to join our team! You only need to have a passion for youth development.
Community Day Center: Waltham Tuesday Sandwich-Making
The Tuesday Sandwich Makers is a project to help the Community Day Center in Waltham (CDCW) continue to serve a healthy lunch to their clients during this time of pandemic. CDCW is the only drop-in day program for homeless individuals in the Metrowest and until the pandemic, served a hot sit down lunch each weekday to their clients. But now they have adjusted to offering grab-and-go lunches.

We looking for volunteers to make 40 sandwiches for the CDCW’s Tuesday lunch program. We ask that you/your group commit to making at least 20 sandwiches, but you can do all 40 as well. This is a perfect project for a youth group, teams of families, a class or just a group of friends wanting to pitch in. You can do it once, several times or on an ongoing basis. For everyone’s health and safety, makers must observe safe food handling practices and health guidelines that will be sent to you upon signing up.

For more information or to sign up, contact Barry Glass or by phone at 339.440.0133
Become A Poll Worker
Did you know that the United States is facing a nationwide poll worker shortage? Usually, 56% of poll workers (the people who staff polling places on election day) are over the age of 60, but this year they aren’t signing up due to COVID-19. Unless younger Americans step up, the resulting shortage of poll workers could mean closed polling places.

How can you help? Register to serve as a poll worker. Visit www.PowerthePolls.org/campus to learn more and apply to serve as a poll worker on election day.

For those on campus: To become a poll worker in Waltham you must be 16 years or older, registered to vote in Massachusetts, attend training and be available to serve the entire day.

Otherwise, you can check your eligibility at https://www.workelections.com/  by entering the address of your current residence (at home or on-campus). Then sign up today at www.PowerthePolls.org/campus  and https://www.workelections.com/. If you have any questions or feedback feel free to reach out!
