Another OPA worker tests positive for COVID-19
A worker in the aquatics department tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work on Aug. 20.  Read more.
Sports Core Pool closed for cleaning, drain
The indoor Sports Core Pool will be closed Aug. 24-Sept. 6 for its semi-annual cleaning and drain. It will reopen on Monday, Sept. 7. The front desk will be open during the closure for class registration from 8 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday - call 410-641-5255.
Beach Club Pool temporarily closed, will reopen Aug. 28
Due to staffing shortages, the Beach Club Pool will be closed through Thursday, Aug. 27. It will reopen on Friday, Aug. 28 and will remain open through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Golf course closed Aug. 26-27
The Ocean Pines Golf Club will be closed Aug. 26-27 for its annual end-of-summer greens aeration. The Clubhouse Bar and Grille will also be closed. The driving range will be open during the closure from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Call 410-641-6057 for more information.
Labor Day weekend fireworks canceled
Ocean Pines' Labor Day weekend fireworks display scheduled for Sept. 5 (which was a postponement of the July 4th event), has been canceled due to ongoing difficulties with public gatherings and COVID-19. It will not be rescheduled.
Boat Safe: Obey MD laws and follow safety guidelines while in Ocean Pines waterways
Boaters in Ocean Pines canals are encouraged to obey speed limits and follow all Maryland boating laws. All canals within Ocean Pines always have a 6-knot speed limit, according to the Maryland Natural Resources Police. Read more.

Suffrage Centennial Celebration Committee members Joy Braun, Susan Buyer, Linda Linzey, and Vicky Wallace were presented a proclamation by the Worcester County Commissioners on Aug. 18 proclaiming Aug. 26 in Worcester County as the Centennial Celebration of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The committee was also was honored to have received citations recently from Senators Van Hollen and Cardin in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of women winning the right to vote and in recognition of the SCCC's work in educating the public about the history of women's suffrage and the critical importance of voting in 2020.

The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop Now Open
The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop is now open Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Masks are required, and only credit card payments are currently accepted. The shop is located in White Horse Park next to the Ocean Pines Administration Building.

Shepherd's Nook & Flea Market Open
The Shepherd's Nook and Flea Market at the Community Church at Ocean Pines and Sarah's Pantry are open. All facilities require that masks be worn inside. The Nook will be restricted to 8 customers entering at a time and the flea market will be limited to 5 customers at a time. The direct phone number for the Nook and Sarah's Pantry is 410-641-8392. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ocean Pines Anglers Club Asking for Catch Data

Sept. 22-24: Maryland Safe Boating Course / 6-9 p.m.
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering an online version of the Maryland Safe Boating Course. Taught by Auxiliary-certified instructors, the course will include basic navigation, anchoring, and docking techniques; information on how to make your boating experience safer and more comfortable; laws and regulations; and information on boat maintenance and trailering. Through Dec. 31: Kiwanis Lottery Raffle Ticket Sales
Purchase tickets now through Dec. 31 for drawings to be held every evening in 2021. Tickets are $20 each and are valid for 365 drawings. Payouts are $20 per evening, except for special dates when winnings are $50-$250. All proceeds benefit local scholarships and youth programs. Tickets may be purchased from any Kiwanis member, or at the Ocean Pines Farmers and Artisans Market, held Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in White Horse Park.
