Officials urge preparedness ahead of likely high winds, rain due to Isaias
The area is now under a tropical storm warning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), with storm conditions beginning as early as tonight.  Read more.
Trash collection to start earlier
Because of forecasts related to Tropical Storm Isaias, Republic Services will collect trash one hour earlier this Tuesday morning. Trash collection at the south side of Ocean Pines will start at 6 a.m. Trash and recycling, as always, should be placed curbside the night before.  Read more.
Election deadline Aug. 5
Property owners who have not yet voted in the Ocean Pines Board of Directors election are reminded that ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5.  Read more.

Ocean Pines announces COVID-19 precautions for Annual Meeting

Fun, instructional tennis classes offered Aug. 10-13
Ocean Pines will offer a four-day instructional tennis class for adults from Aug. 10-13. Classes will start at 9 a.m. each day and focus on basic strokes used in tennis, including forehands, backhands, overheads, serves and volleys.  Read more.

MD Census response rate above national average, Gov. Hogan encourages full participation
Gov. Larry Hogan last week provided an update on Maryland’s progress in the 2020 Census and encouraged all citizens to complete their forms at 2020Census.gov. Maryland currently ranks 13th in the U.S. with a 66.7% self-response rate, above the national response rate of 62.8%.  Read more.

Worcester County Public Schools Superintendent Lou Taylor announced the school system’s plans for students to begin the 2020-2021 school year in Stage One of the Responsible Return mode, meaning students will be engaged in distance learning.  Read more.
Mayor passes declaration requiring face coverings on Boardwalk
Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan passed a declaration requiring everyone over the age of 5 to wear face coverings on Ocean City’s Boardwalk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 a.m. The ordinance took effect Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m. Read more.

The Pine'eer Craft Club of Ocean Pines has announced that the Crafter of the Month for August is Barbara Herzog. Barbara acquired her love for sewing from her mother, who made many of her outfits when she was growing up. Barbara especially enjoys making little girl's dresses and outfits by exploring her creative ability and altering patterns and achieving an unexpected look by mixing fabrics, prints and colors. Barbara's most recent project is making face masks for the Ocean Pines Artisan Gift Shop, open Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop Now Open
The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop is now open Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Masks are required, and only credit card payments are currently accepted. The shop is located in White Horse Park next to the Ocean Pines Administration Building.

Shepherd's Nook & Flea Market Open
The Shepherd's Nook and Flea Market at the Community Church at Ocean Pines and Sarah's Pantry are open. All facilities require that masks be worn inside. The Nook will be restricted to 8 customers entering at a time and the flea market will be limited to 5 customers at a time. The direct phone number for the Nook and Sarah's Pantry is 410-641-8392. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ocean Pines Anglers Club Asking for Catch Data
