Ocean Pines Mixed Bowling League is Looking for Bowlers

The Ocean Pines Mixed Bowling League is looking to fill a couple openings in the current season. We have two openings on Monday and one opening on Tuesday.

This year there are 24 teams divided between Monday and Tuesday. The games start at 1 p.m. It is a mixed league with four people on each team. Cost is $18 a week.

Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop

The Pine’eer Artisan Craft and Gift Shop is always seeking new crafters. If you are an artisan who would like to join, contact Sharon or email opcraftclub@aol.com for more information. All new crafters must go through the juried process, and when items sell, profits return to the community. Crafters must work in the shop—it is run solely by volunteers. Since its inception, the craft club has donated $175,000 back to Ocean Pines and has been handcrafting in the community for more than 40 years. The gift shop is open Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. year round.


Community Church at Ocean Pines Shepherd's Nook, Angels' Attic, and Sarah's Pantry

The Shepherd's Nook and the newly named Angels' Attic (formerly the Flea Market), thrift stores at the Community Church at Ocean Pines, offer gently used (and some new) clothing and household goods at greatly reduced prices. Funds raised are used for the missions of the church. The schedule for the Shepherd's Nook and the Angels' Attic is Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The church also supplies food to the community through Sarah's Pantry. Ocean Pines Anglers Club Asking for Catch Data

Women's Club of Ocean Pines seeks members

The Women’s Club of Ocean Pines invites all women who reside in Ocean Pines to join their organization. New membership year begins September 2023. The purpose of their organization is to promote civic and social activities which includes educational and community outreach opportunities for its members. First Wednesday of Every Month: AGH Diabetes Support Group / 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Atlantic General Hospital will hold a diabetes support group the first Wednesday of every month at the Ocean Pines library, September through June. There is no cost to participate. For more information, call 410-208-9761.


Second Thursday of Every Month: Marine Corps League Peacemakers Detachment 1492 / 11:30 a.m.

The new Peacekeepers Detachment 1492 meets monthly at Ocean City Volunteer Fire Department Station 5 at 101 Keyser Point Road. The group supports organizations such as Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Toys for Toys, and offers social events such as luncheons, dinners, movie nights, sporting events and more. Marines, veterans, first responders and patriotic Americans are invited to participate. Second and Fourth Thursday of Every Month: MAC Alzheimer's/Related Dementia Caregivers Support Group / 3-4:30 p.m.

This group meets at the Ocean Pines library and offers caregivers professional support, access to resources and encouragement from others in similar situations. For more information, contact Margaret White at 410-742-0505 ext. 128 or mwhite@macinc.org.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Ocean Pines Line Dancing

Line dancing has returned to the Ocean Pines Community Center gym. Beginner classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; beginner/intermediate classes are held Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m. All are invited, and no experience is needed - just bring comfortable shoes and a smile. Mondays: Delmarva Chorus / 6-8 p.m.

The Delmarva Chorus, a chapter under the Sweet Adelines International and under the direction of Carol Ludwig, practices every Monday at the Ocean Pines Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The Chorus accepts all women who love to sing, laugh and make new friends. Members entertain at civic events, charitable functions and participate in many other activities such as ways-and-means projects and social events. Other activities include Memorial/Veterans Day performances at the Worcester County Veterans Memorial at Ocean Pines, an annual American Legion convention performance in July, and the Delmarva Chorus annual fundraiser event. Mondays, Tuesdays: Ocean Pines Bowling League/ 1 p.m.

The Ocean Pines Mixed Bowling League has been in existence for over 25 years. It's a great way to meet new friends and have fun at the same time. It spans over Monday and Tuesday at the Ocean City Lanes. If you are interested in joining, please contact Barbara Harman on 301-980-7798.


Tuesdays: Beach Heroes Trash and Litter Clean Up / 9-10 a.m.

This volunteer group is dedicated to cleaning up Ocean City. Events are kid-friendly. Trash bags, gloves and loaner grippers are provided. Join the group on Facebook at Beach Heroes-OC for future times, dates and locations. All are welcome. Donations of 13-gallon biodegradable trash bags and grippers are gladly accepted.


Tuesdays: Sanctioned Bridge / 10 a.m.

Sanctioned bridge is held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ocean Pines Community Center. For more information, email lindarau1@verizon.net.


Tuesdays: Families Anonymous / 7-8:30 p.m.

This group is a fellowship of people whose lives have been affected by the use of mind-altering substances or related behavior problems of a relative or friend. Any concerned person (even if there is only a suspicion of a problem) is encouraged to attend meetings, held at the Community Church at Ocean Pines Family Life Center (room 37) on 11227 Racetrack Road. Wednesdays: Pines Steppers Square Dance Club / 7-8:30 p.m.

Dance lessons are held each week in the Assateague Room of the Ocean Pines Community Center. Instructors promise a welcoming environment for all skill levels. The first four workshops are free. Following that, participants can continue with a 12-week course for $5 per person, per session. For more information, call Barbara Roos at 908-229-8799.


Wednesdays: Kiwanis Club / 8 a.m.

EVERY WEDNESDAY, Kiwanis Club meets in the Ocean Pines Community Center on 235 Ocean Parkway. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.; the meeting begins at 8 a.m. Third Wednesdays meetings are offsite and will be updated monthly. Guests are encouraged to visit and learn about what the club is and does. Prospective new members are always welcome


Additionally, Kiwanis "Lottery Raffle" tickets are on sale for $20 each, every Saturday at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A ticket is good for all 365 days of 2024 drawings of the Maryland evening "Pick 3" drawing. There are 17 special dates that pay up to $250. Proceeds benefit Kiwanis Club of OP-OC Scholarships and Youth Programs. Wednesdays in November: Kiwanis Club 2023 Annual Coat Drive Collection / 9 a.m. - noon

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines/Ocean City is hosting their annual Coat & Toy Drive. Collections will be Wednesdays in November from 9 a.m.-noon in the parking lot of the Community Center. COATS new or used in good condition will go to various local organizations for those in need. TOYS new and unwrapped will go to Worcester GOLD for distribution. The Kiwanis Club and its members will donate and the Kiwanis Club asks for the public to also donate. Look for the sign. Helping to make a happier holiday for many. November 13: Ocean Pines Camera Club Meeting/ 7 p.m.

The Ocean Pines Camera Club will be hosting their November meeting Monday, November 13 at the OP Library at 7 p.m. Monthly speaker will be Lynn Fisher who will be presenting her photographs that were taken with her infrared camera. All are welcome.


November 16: Republican Women of Worcester County General Meeting & Installation of New Officers/ 5:50 p.m.

The Republican Women of Worcester County will be hosting their November meeting and installation of new officers on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, MD. The guest speaker will be US Congressman Andy Harris. Doors open at 5:50 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $50.00 all inclusive and a cash bar will be available. Seating is limited. November 18: Special Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast / 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Kiwanis "Shop with a Cop" special pancake breakfast will be held in the Assateague Room at the Ocean Pines Community Center. Tickets are $9, children under 10 are free. Proceeds benefit local youth. Carryout also available.


The theme is Kiwanis Club "Shop with a Cop" supporting the Cricket Center's "Shop with a Cop". It's an annual event sponsored by The Cricket Center in partnership with Worcester County law enforcement agencies giving children the chance to shop with a local law enforcement officer for holiday gifts for their families. Children are given $150 each to spend on gifts for their families. The Cricket Center realized that instead of buying holiday gifts, they were buying basic necessities. To assist the effort, the "Shop with a Cop" local drive provides our community the opportunity to donate these basic necessities enabling children to focus on holiday gifts for their families. There will be a collection box at the Pancake Breakfast. Come all. Enjoy good food, camaraderie with Ocean Pines police and Cricket Center staff who will be in the serving line, and helping others. November 20: Democratic Women's Club of Worcester County Meeting / 9:30 a.m. social time/ 10 a.m. meeting

The Democratic Women's Club of Worcester County will host their meeting in the Assateague Room at the Ocean Pines Community Center. Guest speaker will be Pocomoke Mayor Todd Knock and Salisbury City Councilwoman Michele Gregory. Bring your own beverage.


December 1: Annual Hat Sale at Ocean Pines Library/ noon - 5 p.m.

Hats, Hats, Hats, & More - It's the Annual Holiday Hat Sale. All items are "handmade" by the FIBER FRIENDS OF OCEAN PINES and all proceeds are donated to the Ocean Pines Library. Come on out and purchase a gift or two and support your OP Library. For information please contact Victoria at healyvictoria@yahoo.com.

The Bethany United Methodist Church located at 8648 Stephen Decatur Highway, Berlin, MD will be hosting a Christmas Cookie Walk and Crafts fair December 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cookies and other sweets will be sold by the pound.
