We got a $50K grant to make Pavilion Lake invasive-free - and you can help make it happen!

Pavilion Lake is the most visited destination in Ashburn Village,and it's facing a huge challenge: at least 25 species from the Virginia Invasive Plants List have, well, invaded.  

The $50,000 grant we won from Loudoun County will allow us to have nearly 50 of the largest Bradford/Callery pears and white mulberry trees removed by a tree service this month.  

But we need volunteers to cut down the hundreds of smaller pear and mulberry trees on the lakeshore.  

In October, 20 community members made incredible progress, but there are still many more to take down.

Here's the secret: it's fun!

We'll teach you how to identify the bad guys, use hand tools to cut them to the ground, and treat them so they stop spreading.

Our lake becomes more scenic without the groves of invasive trees.  

And nothing is as satisfying as making room for native plants, grasses, and trees to grow and be food and shelter for our wildlife.
