E‑Bikes and Pedestrian Safety in Ashburn Village
E‑bikes are becoming increasingly popular in our community, especially among younger riders. While they offer a fun, eco‑friendly way to get around, it’s important that riders and pedestrians can safely share our sidewalks and walking trails.
Understanding E‑Bikes

Class 1 & 2: Pedal‑assist or throttle, up to 20 mph

Class 3: Pedal‑assist up to 28 mph; riders must be at least 14 and have a speedometer
Virginia Law
E‑bikes are permitted on roads with speed limits under 25 mph and on bike paths, as long as riders yield to pedestrians.
Community Awareness
Ashburn Village’s governing documents do not currently regulate e‑bikes, but the Board has identified education and awareness as the best approach at this time.
Safety Reminders for Riders
- Slow down around pedestrians and in busy areas
- Use a bell or verbal alert when passing
- Yield to pedestrians at all times
- Stay alert for children, pets, and individuals who may not hear or see you coming
By riding responsibly and respectfully, we can keep our sidewalks and trails safe and enjoyable for everyone.

- Repaired multiple lights throughout

Inspections:
Annual Property Reviews Currently in Progress
Inspectors have completed Zone 1 and are now working on Zone 2!
Each year, Association staff conduct annual inspections of single‑family homes and townhomes to help ensure properties remain in compliance with the Community Guidelines.
If you are a new homeowner in the Village, or if you’re unfamiliar with the Architectural and Environmental Guidelines that our Community Standards Inspectors follow, we encourage you to review them ahead of time. Being familiar with the Guidelines is a great way to stay informed.

In addition to Annual inspections, inspectors may be in your area addressing resident-submitted concerns, and performing resale inspections if you are selling your home.

Please put yard waste in paper lawn bags or a container specifically marked "Yard Waste."
Yard debris is picked up on Mondays only and can be placed on the curbside up to 2 days prior to pick up.
Yard waste does not include any materials arising from tree removal, land clearing, or development activities (i.e.- hired landscaping contractors).

Share Your Thoughts: Steam Room Survey

As part of ongoing facility planning at the Sports Pavilion, the existing steam room is due for a significant overhaul. The estimated cost to replace the steam room is approximately $35,000.
Before moving forward, we are seeking resident input on whether to renovate the current steam room or consider alternative uses for the space.
Your feedback will help guide this decision.

Outdoor Pool Season Starts May 23rd

Access Card Required: An access card is needed to use the AVSP gym and all outdoor pools. If you already have one—including the original yellow version—you’re all set. Children under 6 do not need a card.

Guest Passes: Each property automatically receives 10 complimentary electronic outdoor pool guest passes (Woods, Mills, Lakes). You do not need to pick them up—they’re already loaded onto your access card. Additional passes can be purchased at the Sports Pavilion or HOA.
- Lost Access Card:

If you’ve lost or misplaced your card, the replacement fee is $5.00. Payment can be made by credit card or exact cash only at the HOA office, 44025 Courtland Dr.

Alternatively, you can download the AVSP App and use your phone to access the gym and pools! Available on the Apple Store, and Google Play. Type AVSP in the search bar to find it!

Do you have a small wooded area near your home?
Have you ever wondered how you can save the native trees and bushes being smothered by invasive plants there?
This training is for you!
We'll meet in a wooded area along Gloucester Blvd to learn how to:
- Assess the condition of the woods
- Identify the most common invasive trees, bushes, and vines in these areas
- Prioritize what to tackle first
- Use both herbicide and non-herbicide methods to remove problem plants
Join us to rescue one of these wooded areas!

Reminder! Monday, April 13 is the last day to register your home and reserve a spot at the Lakes for the Ashburn Village Spring Yard Sale, Shred, Paint and Electronic Recycle Event on Saturday, April 18! You can sign up by clicking here.
The yard sale map will be available on April 15.
The shred, electronic and paint recycle, and medication drop-off is for Ashburn Village residents only. Proof of residency will be required at drop-off.
