🐾 Pet Waste Etiquette: A Small Act with a Big Impact

We kindly remind all pet owners to properly dispose of animal waste using the designated waste stations located throughout the neighborhood.

Leaving pet waste behind is not only unpleasant for others, but it can also harm the environment. When left on the ground, waste can wash into storm drains and local waterways, introducing harmful bacteria and toxins. By cleaning up after our pets, we protect both our community and the ecosystem we all enjoy.

Per the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 612.19, pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. This guideline is also reflected in Ashburn Village’s community standards.

Let’s continue to show respect for our neighbors, common areas, and natural surroundings. A quick cleanup makes a lasting difference.

Have you ever wondered how you could lend a hand to your neighbors?

Look no further. You can sign up as a Village Helper and share your time, talents, and services with fellow residents. Whether you're available for babysitting, pet sitting, snow shoveling, lawn mowing, light gardening, or other odd jobs—your neighbors may be looking for your service!

Village Helpers is a non-professional, resident-to-resident service opportunity designed to build neighborly relationships and provide support within Ashburn Village. Participation is open exclusively to deeded Homeowners, who may submit and view Village Helper ads.

There is no cost to advertise Village Helper services on the AVCA website. Ads will remain active for 3 months from date of posting unless you chose a custom end date.

Get Involved!

Pavilion Lake Invasive-Free Challenge

The Ashburn Village Invasives Removal Team (AVIRT) is kicking off a new challenge, and we need your help!

Pavilion Lake, Ashburn Village’s most popular destination, is home to at least a dozen species on the Virginia Invasives List. These invasives are crowding out and taking over the native trees, bushes, and flowers there. So, for the next 12 months, AVIRT will focus on creating an invasive-free lake in the heart of our HOA.

We’re starting with the Bradford/Callery pears, white mulberries, and Amur maples. Fall is the best time to tackle invasive trees, so we'll get started on Sunday, September 28.

·       If you helped us battle the Tree of Heaven this summer, use the skills you learned to treat approximately 40 pear and mulberry trees ahead of their removal as well as to begin cutting down and treating the hundreds of saplings around Pavilion Lake.

·       If you haven’t volunteered with us before, come and learn how to spot these invasive trees and get rid of them.

The Pavilion Lake Invasive-Free Challenge will continue throughout fall and winter and into next spring with additional workdays to remove invasive bushes and vines most easily handled during non-growing months.

For more information, contact Tracy Whittington, AVIRT Coordinator - nabertj@gmail.com.

Monday 9/29 is the last day to register your house for the fall declutter event on Saturday 10/1.
