"WESTVILLE DADS CAN" COMPETE @ARTS AND IDEAS TO FIGHT HUNGER
"A team of Westville dads is taking part in a competition to raise awareness of hunger in New Haven and support the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. "CANning Hunger 2019" is part of this year's Arts and Ideas festival. Five teams from across New Haven are building sculptures on the theme of "Home" made entirely  out of canned goods. The sculptures will be displayed on the New Haven Green during Arts and Ideas; prizes will be awarded based on artistic merit and greatest number of cans used. At the end of the competition, all of the cans will be donated to the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen to help feed hungry families. Four dads -- Ryan Turner, Nick Perrone, Doug Bernstein and Nate Price -- have formed the team "Westville Dads Can!"  Their theme is "Think Global, Act Local" and they are building a model of our globe entirely out of cans of tuna. The Westville Dads need the Westville community's support: the finished sculpture will require over 1000 cans of tuna!  Please help them fight hunger by ordering an item from their Amazon wish list: CLICK HERE and it will ship directly to the team. They are already at 40% of their goal so every purchase will make a big difference!"
