Internships...and a Corridor job opportunity

Our summer Office and Events Assistant is a 20-hour week position from mid to late May through August 9. The winning applicant will update social media feeds, write newsletter articles, call Corridor investors and business contacts, and tackle a variety of projects. The summer culminates with the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute, one of the coolest events on the calendar.

Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation
Office & Events Assistant (part-time, temporary)
The Office & Events Assistant supports office services and communications, staffs events, assists with the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute, and exhibits exemplary customer service.
  • Great phone and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation
  • Knowledge of and comfort with social media, content management systems, and other forms of electronic communication
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
Duties include:
  • Maintain and update organizational contact lists and databases
  • Assist with update and maintenance of organizational website
  • Assist with the development of communication materials including print materials, electronic newsletters, event promotional materials, and others
  • Assist in planning, organizing, promoting, and attending to details, including reservations, facilities, RSVP's, catering, etc., for all Corridor events
  • Answers telephone and greets clients and visitors
This position is approximately 20 hours per week through August 9, 2019.

BVU celebrates new Center for Diversity and Inclusion

The official opening of Buena Vista University's new Center for Diversity and Inclusion was held on Monday, in time to feature multiple public events to celebrate Black History Month. At the ribbon cutting and opening event, President Joshua Merchant presented a five-year plan for the Center.

IPTV to host 'Iowa Land and Sky' premiere in Spencer

Iowa Public Television's (IPTV) newest television program will be premiered at the Clay County Regional Events Center at 7:00 p.m. with a reception starting at 6:30 p.m. on February 21. 'Iowa Land and Sky' features the breathtaking views across Iowa from both the ground and the sky.

Spencer Hospital named one of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals

For the fourth consecutive year, the Spencer Hospital has been recognized in the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the country. The designation is based on the Hospital Strength Index developed by iVantage Health Analytics. The Spencer Hospital is one of only two Iowa hospitals to be recognized in all four years that mid-sized rural community hospitals have been included.

Two local publications gain state-wide recognition

The Dickinson County News placed fourth in the Iowa Newspaper Association's (INA) "Newspaper of the Year" category. In addition, the paper received an additional 35 awards throughout the INA Convention and Trade show. Check out the awards!

The Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune also received awards from the INA Better Newspaper Contests. The publication received 20 awards including Best News Story, Best News Series and many others. See the full list here!
