MEET COUNCIL MEMBER BALDENEGRO

June 23rd, 2025, will officially be 623 Day for Downtown Glendale! To mark the occasion, the Mayor has issued an official proclamation recognizing the date as Ocotillo 623 Day. I will be reading this historic proclamation on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2025 in downtown Glendale at 9am, so join us for an exciting day of celebration with various specials and 623 themed promotions!


🎉 What is 623 Day? It’s the West Valley’s very own celebration of the amazing community we call home! Inspired by Phoenix’s 602 Day, we’re bringing the love local with over 20 neighborhood businesses offering $6.23 specials all day long! 🛍️🍕🎨


Mark your calendars, grab your crew, and come explore everything the 623 has to offer — from vintage shops, cafés to boutiques, bakeries, and more. Let’s celebrate our local flavor, style, and spirit as one!

LIBRARY SERVICES & EVENTS

We're excited to welcome some feathery, scaly and furry ambassadors plus their human companion Jungle Jill! Get ready to learn all about these fascinating critters - what they eat, where they sleep, how they communicate, and all their fun quirky habits that make them who they are. This program is perfect for family members of all ages!

Scanning for Tweens ready to take on new adventures. Join us monthly to get creative, work with your hands, and experiment! Open to Tweens ages 9-11.


This month we are using anything BUT a paintbrush to make unique works of art. Explore how a variety of tools can have different effects and produce wild textures. Combine methods to finish a work of art like no one has ever seen....then do it again! To register, click here!

Did you know that the City of Glendale has 155 units of public housing? The Community Services Department even helps fix a wide variety maintenance issues including HVAC, plumbing, painting and appliance problems that arise for our Glendale residents.


In the quiet corners of Glendale, a dedicated team of maintenance workers silently transforms lives, one apartment at a time!Here's a story about these unsung heroes of the Community Services Maintenance Crew for public housing.

COMMUNITY CENTER EVENTS

Glendale Community Center


Located in the heart of downtown Glendale at 5401 W. Ocotillo Drive, the Glendale Community Center is a small, vibrant neighborhood hub offering various free community programs. The center caters to all age groups, including youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Programs encompass educational, recreational, and fitness activities, aiming to enhance community engagement and well-being.


Program Highlights: 

Youth Programs: Activities designed to foster learning and social skills.

Teen Programs: Engaging activities that promote personal development and community involvement.

Adult Programs: Educational and recreational activities tailored to adult interests and fitness.

Senior Programs: Programs focused on social interaction, learning, and physical wellness for seniors.

After School Programs: Free, drop-in Afterschool Program for youth ages 6-14 that provides supervised recreational activities, crafts, games, sports, clubs, homework help, and special events. This is a non-licensed program and will run from August 2024 through May 2025, Monday through Friday. Daily meals from St. Mary's Food Bank will be provided to participants and any other youth in the community. Registration required, for more information click here!

Enjoy a FREE Membership at the Glendale Community Center! This membership grants you access to a variety of classes and programs for all age groups, including youth, teens, adults, and seniors. O'Neil Recreation Center


The O'Neil Recreation Center is conveniently located on 67th Avenue and Missouri and offers a variety of free community programs for all ages. Some programs include Stay & Play hours for young families, Virtual Fitness classes and board & card games for adults/seniors, Afterschool and Teen programs, and more! PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT UPDATES

  • The Pavement Management Program here is COMPLETE for the current Fiscal Year. City staff is currently and actively pursuing commitments and schedules from our contractors to address the remaining miles in the Ocotillo District for the next fiscal year.
