Michelle Woytenko serves as the Field Operations Director for the City of Glendale, overseeing a wide range of essential services that impact both residents and city employees. Her role encompasses solid waste management, landfill operations, facility maintenance, and fleet services—critical components that help keep the city running smoothly.
Under her leadership, Field Operations ensures that the city's fleet, including vehicles for Police and Fire Departments, is well-maintained and ready for service. Her team also manages the upkeep of city buildings, ensuring that lighting, HVAC systems, flooring, and other key infrastructure remain safe, functional, and efficient. On the solid waste side, Michelle oversees everything from routine residential and bulk trash pickup to the environmentally responsible disposal of waste materials.
Michelle holds a degree in Geology, a field that reflects her lifelong passion for the earth and environment. Her professional journey began in the mining and oil industries and eventually led her to specialize in landfill management. As a woman thriving in a traditionally male-dominated department—Michelle leads by example, demonstrating that women can excel and lead in operations and public works.
Growing up on a farm in Canada and learning from her father, an electrician, Michelle developed a practical, problem-solving mindset early in life. These skills continue to serve her well as she tackles the dynamic and ever-changing demands of her role.
What Michelle enjoys most about her position is the people. Each day brings new challenges, but it also brings opportunities to connect with city employees across departments and the residents of Glendale. These relationships are what make her work truly rewarding.
