Q&A with President Brown regarding the COVID-19 global pandemic

As the world responds to halt the spread of the ever-changing, global pandemic COVID-19, Kentucky State University remains committed to supporting our entire campus community while executing appropriate actions and precautions to ensure safety. Kentucky State University granted SACSCOC waiver to offer distance learning this semester

Kentucky State University received written confirmation of its waiver request from its accrediting body to offer instruction via distance education for the remainder of the academic year. The campus announced online instruction through April 13, 2020 and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 health emergency and adjust accordingly. 

Communication and preparation have been key in setting up the Kentucky State University migration to online learning

Frequent communication and preparation have been critical to the success of migrating to online learning for Kentucky State University.  

Acting Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Beverly Schneller said the process of migrating to online learning has gone well, even though everything moved quickly when the decision was made to move to a modified instruction model. 

Kentucky State University Information Technology provides leadership during transition to online working and learning

Kentucky State University’s Information Technology team has played a crucial role during the campus migration to online learning and working. 

Wendy Dixie, chief information officer, said the process has been challenging, but three of the University’s most critical and heavily used systems were moved to cloud-based platforms in 2013, 2015 and 2018.   

Kentucky State University professor transforms basement into production studio for online learning

As Kentucky State University transitions to online learning during the global pandemic, faculty have made preparations to help Thorobreds continue to strive for academic excellence.  

Dr. Jens Hannemann, associate professor for computer science, transformed his basement into a production student to better help his students during this unprecedented time.
