Weekly Update on the Open Channel Project at Colorado Lagoon | |
Please note that the construction team is expected to begin removing the culvert next week. This work will include removing marine growth and sediment.
Marine growth and sediment are typically submerged, and natural decomposition processes can produce odors when they are exposed to air. These odors may be carried by wind into nearby areas.
Beginning next week, crews are expected to work extended hours and on weekends to prepare for the culvert shutdown, and will continue this schedule throughout the shutdown period to help maintain the water quality and ecological health of the Lagoon.
The project team has committed to opening the park in July 2026 and reopening the roads in September 2026. The latest weekly update for the Open Channel Project is included below.
