I am glad to announce that District 3 is partnering with neighborhood associations and the City to host a special Scam Prevention Event for Seniors. Join us on Wednesday, April 10, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Bay Shore Church. Please see events below for more details.

The City of Long Beach is proud to announce its recognition of California Tsunami Week, which takes place on March 23 to 31. This week reminds coastal communities of the importance of tsunami preparedness and education.

Finally, please remember to complete the Go Long Beach App survey to share your suggestions on improvements. The app is an easy way for residents and businesses to report issues and request Long Beach services.

Council Update

Upcoming City Council Meeting Highlight

On Tuesday, March 26, the City Council will not meet. On April 2 at 2:30 pm, Councilmember Duggan has called a Climate, Environment, and Coastal Protection Committee meeting to hear the following topics:

Review of Styrofoam Ordinance
Presentation on the Los Cerritos Wetlands restoration project at the Synergy Oil Field site

On Tuesday, April 2, the City Council will meet but the agenda is not posted yet.

Summary of Previous City Council Meeting

On Tuesday, March 19, the City Council held a study session regarding the Fiscal Outlook and FY 25 Proposed Budget Development. The City Council also held a regular meeting and heard the following items of interest:

Item 17: Recommendation to request City Manager to work with the Public Works Department and relevant departments to begin the process in developing a Speed Safety System Use Policy, a Speed Safety System Impact Report, and proposal for an automated Speed Safety System Pilot Program pursuant to AB 645 to City Council within 45 days. This item passed unanimously. Listen to Councilmember Duggan's comments here.

Item 18: Recommendation to direct City Manager to work with the Economic Development Department and relevant City Departments to explore the feasibility of expanding economic opportunities including but not limited to sidewalk vending. This item passed. Listen to Councilmember Duggan's comments here.

Item #29: Recommendation to declare ordinance amending Title 9 in the Long Beach Municipal Code by adding Chapter 9.33 relating to City Library Rules, and adding Sections 9.33.010, 9.33.020, 9.33.030, all relating to the City Library Rules. This item passed unanimously.

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day is an interfaith community project. This year, Temple Israel worked with Belmont Heights Community Association, Belmont Heights United Methodist Church, Being the Church Long Beach, the LGBTQ Center, and our District 3 office. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the District 3 projects, which included the Long Beach Bikeway Route 10, the Long Beach Greenbelt, and the 10th and Termino Greenbelt!
