Summary of Previous City Council Meeting
On Tuesday, September 3, the City Council heard the following items of interest:
Item #26: Budget Hearing for Health and Human Services and Economic Development for the Proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. See the presentation here.
For Health and Human Services, Councilmember Duggan asked that the department look at the data collected from the Homeless Data Dashboard and other program data to see what's working, what's not, and why. The City started publishing data during the declared homeless emergency and we should be using this data to guide our decision-making.
Item #28: Request the City Attorney draft a resolution recognizing every 8th of September as "908 Day", a citywide celebration of pride in the City of Long Beach. This item passed unanimously.
Also on Tuesday, September 3 at 3:00 pm, the Budget Oversight Committee will hear the following topic of interest:
Item #2: Receive and file a presentation on Grow Long Beach, in addition to revenue opportunities (inclusive of the proposed regional tax) as a part of the November 2024 Ballot. This item was a report with no action, and it passed unanimously.
