Council Update

Upcoming City Council Meeting Highlight

On Tuesday, October 29, the City Council will not meet.

Do you want to participate in a City Council meeting but don't know how? Check out the 3rd District's Guide to City Council Meetings here!

Summary of Previous City Council Meeting

On Tuesday, October 22, the City Council heard the following items of interest:

Item #19: Recommendation to request Police Department to provide a presentation to City Council in 60 days on the protocols and guidelines the Department employs when responding to cases of trespassing and occupying abandoned properties (“squatting”); and

Request Police Department to work with City Manager, City Attorney, and City Prosecutor to evaluate current legislation and associated impacts on the Department’s capabilities when addressing incidents of “squatting” and trespassing, and report back to City Council with recommendations in 90 days. This item passed unanimously. Councilmember Duggan asked that an overview of the new process for property owners to implement standing no trespassing orders be included in the report back, which gives permission to LBPD to enforce trespassing when the owner isn't on site.

All City Council, Committee, and Commission agendas can be found here.
