The 4th of July is just around the corner and the City of Long Beach is encouraging residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly. All personal fireworks are prohibited in the City of Long Beach. Residents can expect ongoing citywide enforcement of the City's firework ordinance.
Join me tonight at Rec Park Bandshell for Shakespeare by the Sea’s performance of Henry IV! The Long Beach Police Department is hosting a free Etch & Catch Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Event today from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Long Beach Health Department (2525 Grand Avenue). Find details below.
City Council will be dark on Tuesday, July 2, 9, 23, and 30. The next City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16, and you will find the agenda on the City of Long Beach website available on July 8.

Caltrans: California Department of Transportation Updates | |
Caltrans is actively planning future projects for Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) with a proposed bike facility. A portion of this project will encompass District 3, including PCH from Termino Avenue to Redondo Avenue. The Bike Lane Project Community Survey closed on Friday, June 21, and the early stage project offers three bike lane alternatives with construction possibly starting in 2028.
This year, Caltrans will being Project AE 32160, a pavement rehabilitation effort on PCH from the City of Torrance to the Orange County line. Improvements include bike lane restriping, upgrading 154 ADA curb ramps, and enhancing crosswalks for safety and accessibility.
On June 13, Caltrans removed the metal screen within the median on 7th Street near Pepper Tree Lane. They also cleaned the median near the west entrance of the 22 Freeway, with plans to schedule the east side soon.

Qualified Residents Encouraged to Apply for Second Cohort of the Long Beach Public Service Corps Program | The City's Economic Development Workforce Bureau, Pacific Gateway, has opened the application period for the 2024-2025 Long Beach Public Service Corps Program. Applications will be accepted through Sunday, June 30. This program is available to Long Beach residents who are college seniors at California State University, Long Beach; or California State University, Dominguez Hills; or residents who are current students with at least 30 units completed at Long Beach City College. | | | |
