Hello Kristina,

Also, there is a 2025 Community Budget Meeting at 6:00 pm on August 7 at Recreation Park Community Center (4900 East 7th Street). See all the Community Budget Meetings here.

Upcoming City Council Meeting Highlight
On Tuesday, August 6, the City Council will hear the following topics of interest:
Item #30: Conduct a Budget Hearing to receive and discuss an overview of the Proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. See the budget documents here.
Item #32: Request the City Manager to work with the Office of Cannabis Oversight and all relevant departments to conduct a feasibility study on hosting temporary cannabis special events within City limits, including types of appropriate venues, and report back with Council presentation in 60 days.
Item #33: Adopt a resolution submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Long Beach on the November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election Ballot a Tax Measure to remove the gas tax exemption for power plants in Long Beach. Paris 2024 - Immersed in the Olympics
I was beyond thrilled to attend the Olympics with my family. And with our travels, I had the perfect opportunity to look at the Olympics from a tourist’s perspective. From navigating the metro to walking an average of 14,000 steps per day, I learned about businesses, transit options (bus, metro, e-bike, etc.), and safety protocols based on the collaboration of the City of Paris and the Olympic Committee.
I also learned about the volunteer programs that help the Olympics run smoothly. These programs are essential to helping visitors navigate the City and make it to the Games on time.
I was honored to watch several of our local Olympians in athletics (Track & Field) and Water Polo, even some Wilson Alumni! In addition to watching the games, I had the privilege of meeting several Olympians at the OLY House.
From this trip, I know we have a lot of preparation work to do but LA 28 is going to be great for Long Beach.
More to come!
Au Revoir, Kristina

Long Beach Municipal Band Closes out their 115th Season! | The Long Beach Municipal Band wrapped up their 115th season of free outdoor summer concerts this week. Thank you to Conductor Kurtis for your dedication and incredible performances. We look forward to another fantastic season next summer!
I absolutely love the Model Boat Shop program. My son still displays his model boat from 2016 and talks about the regatta. I wish I could have attended the regatta yesterday, it's always an exciting and fun event! Carving your own boat is a wonderful craft, and I hope the youth continue to enjoy this tradition with the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department.
