Hello Kristina,
It has been a productive and exciting week! Representatives from The Ocean Cleanup visited Long Beach this past Wednesday to join the Marine Bureau, Public Works, and my office for a field assessment of the Long Beach waterways, beaches, and the Los Angeles River. I hope this partnership will progress, as all Long Beach residents deserve a clean and healthy coastline and ocean. Stay tuned for more updates!
In addition, on Thursday morning, my team and I participated in the 2024 Point in Time Count conducted by the City's Health Department. We surveyed the unhoused population in our community and distributed hygiene kits. This will help us better understand their needs and the existing gaps so that we can take informed and compassionate action.
Join me next week at the Alamitos Bay Water Quality Enhancement update. The current pumps will be phased out by 2026, and new designs are being created to circulate the water and protect wildlife. Alamitos Bay will host the aquatic events for the 2028 Olympics.
Please visit the City's website to voice your opinion on how you would like the City of Long Beach to spend its budget for the 2025 fiscal year. See below for more details.
In other news, the Long Beach Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The celebration was held at the Billie Jean King Library. I was proud to learn about the contributions made by diverse aviators to local aviation advancements.
As always, the 3rd District team and I are here to help. Reach out to us at District3@longbeach.gov or (562) 570-6300.
