This Week's Highlights

The Ministry of a Deacon — October 4 Adult Forum

Sunday, October 4 at 9am

The ministry of the order of deacons is rooted in the earliest Biblical accounts of the followers of Jesus. From the calling of the original seven, deacons are called to be servant ministers in God's church helping to care for human needs while proclaiming the Gospel. Please join Deacon William as he shares about the historical roots of the diaconate and the modern role of deacons in the Episcopal Church and the world.

Upcoming Adult Forum: “Jesus & the Powers” Book Study

Sundays at 9am, Oct 11 - Nov 8

Join us at 9 am from October 11 through November 8 to discuss “Jesus & the Powers” by N.T. Wright. This book offers a timely, biblically grounded framework for how Christians should navigate political witness, cultural fragmentation, and worldly authority in an age of totalitarian terror and dysfunctional democracies. N.T. Wright is an Anglican Bishop and distinguished theologian. Copies of the book can be picked up from the church office or ordered online.

• October 11: The Kingdom and the Shadow of Empire, Introduction & Chapter 1

• October 18: The Church, Jesus, and Caesar, Chapters 2 & 3

• October 25: Vision and Vocation – Building the Kingdom, Chapter 4

• November 1: Submission, Subversion, and Resistance, Chapters 5 & 6

• November 8: Liberalism, Love, and a Way Forward, Chapter 7 & Conclusion

Waffle Shop — Christ Church’s 96th Annual Fundraiser for Mission

Save the Date: November 11-14 (New schedule: Wednesday – Saturday!)

Waffle Shop is a 4-day fundraising event held November 11-14, 2026 at Christ Church. Through the sale of waffle & sausage lunches (and more!) Christ Church raises funds for mission. This spring, we distributed $9,400 in grants to 14 local organizations from our 2025 Waffle Shop proceeds! Christ Church is proud of this legacy of service to our community and look forward to welcoming newcomers who feel inspired to join us in this annual effort. It takes a lot of hands to make this 4-day fundraiser possible.
