Friends of the Farm-

Happy Friday and welcome back to another week of Live Oak Farm CSA...

It's Spring Break for many families & students and this past week of weather seemed to coincide in spirit, right on cue. We used these sunny days to not only to work in drying out the over-saturated soils across our farm, but dedicating precious outdoor planting time to flip & prepare beds, and direct transplant our next successions of crops. Winter projects are quickly transitioning to Spring momentum. We, and many local farmers have much work to do in our efforts to catch up. Spring, will certainly be a very busy time for our team and farm as it comes with the feeling of everything happening all at once. Luckily with it comes more varied produce, more time reinvigorating and restoring our beds & infrastructure, and an eye for expansion & growth. We're excited to share our next chapter with you.

For our recipe this week we highlight a recipe that was shared with us by one of our very own Live Oak Farm CSA members. We love hearing from you and seeing how you creatively enjoy our harvests. We always invite you to share any favorite recipes that come from your kitchen, or new creations inspired by our produce. This week we return to a cocktail recipe with Meyer Lemon Drop Martinis!

Lastly, we welcome you to enjoy our weekly music playlist...

Many of this week's contributions were enjoyed under the sunshine that was shining upon us for most of the week. The track, Soulshine by Govt Mule is a great exemplification of this feeling. Additionally, themes of Spring and reprieve from rain can be felt in the spirit of Sow 'Em On The Mountain performed by Foghorn Stringband, ALO's Sparrow, and Love You More by Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. Audio sunshine. Do enjoy!

All our best from the farm,

Tom & William and Live Oak Farm team

Live Oak Farm Playlist Pairing

Meyer Lemon Drop Martinis

Ingredients:

1.5 Oz. Vodka or Gin

0.5 Oz. Cointreau

0.5 Oz. Meyer Lemon Juice

1 teaspoon Simple Syrup

Superfine / Granulated sugar, for martini glass rim

Meyer Lemon twist for garnish

(yields 1x cocktail, adjust accordingly)

Method:

Assemble your martini glasses. Prepare a Meyer Lemon wedge and score. Run the lemon wedge along the rim of each glass. In a shallow plate or saucer filled with sugar, gently press the rim of each glass to dust its rim with a light sugar coating.

Place all remaining ingredients into a cocktail shaker, and fill remaining space with ice. Shake until cold and blended. Strain into glassware and garnish with a lemon twist.

Serve and enjoy. Cheers!
