It's a busy week in the Virtual Children's Room: art, trivia, poetry, and storytime are here to entertain your family at home.
A National Poetry Month Activity
We'll be celebrating the wonders of poetry all month long, and this week's activity is easy and fun (and therapeutic for any parents who want to participate): Blackout Poetry . All you need is a Sharpie, marker, or pen, and a piece of paper with words on it that you no longer need: an old book, magazine, or newspaper would work great. Take a look at the words on it that you find interesting, and turn them into a poem by covering up the rest of the page. We'd love to read your poetry: post on our Facebook or tag us on Instagram!
This Week's Programs
It's a Math challenge this week in Use Your Brain : we're playing 24 ! Take a list of numbers and use them to get to an answer of 24, through addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
This week's Trivia Tuesday is all about geography. Get out your maps and ponder these scenarios: Kevin will describe a trip and it's up to you to determine what direction you would have to travel to get there.
This week's featured holiday is wild: National Zoo Lover's Day ! We may not be able to celebrate it in our preferred way, visiting giraffes at the Bronx Zoo, but we have some suggestions for how you can enjoy the zoo from home, with live feed suggestions, trivia from The Central Park Zoo, and a lot of awesome animal crafts. Click to download this week's celebration in English and Spanish.
This week's I ♥ Art is celebrating Henri Matisse. Famed for his use of color, towards the end of his life, he began working with paper cutouts.

What you'll need for this week's activity :
  • White paper
  • Colored paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
