Wes Fields: Awarded 2020 OCSO Posse Member of the Year
|
|
Wes Fields currently serves on the Okaloosa County Sherrif's Office Posse Board of Directors as the Corporal at Large and is a strong leader who leads by example.
Wes has been an active Posse member for a combined total of 17 years. For many years, he regularly volunteered to perform backup for East District during emergencies, high-volume situations, and manning shortages. He freed up deputies by assisting with traffic control for crashes, hazardous spills, detours, and other congested road conditions.
Wes is a decorated combat veteran who served in the Air Force for 24 years. As a military retiree, he provided security and logistical support for the famed Doolittle “Tokyo” Raiders and was an escort for other WWII veterans to events worldwide.
He was a Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Trooper for 5 years and was a Florosa Fire Department Volunteer firefighter. Currently, Wes is employed by the local

Tourism Development Council where he provides a warm welcome and information to visitors.

Paycheck Protection Program Extended
|
U.S. Small Business Administration are taking steps with the Paycheck Protection Program to further promote equitable relief for America’s mom-and-pop businesses.
The latest round of Paycheck Protection Program funding opened one month ago and has succeeded in making major improvements to the program’s implementation:
- For businesses with fewer than ten employees, the share of funding is up nearly 60%
- For businesses in rural communities, the share of funding is up nearly 30%
- The share of funding distributed through Community Development Financial Institutions and Minority Depository Institutions is up more than 40%

Brooks Bridge Public Input

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to participate in a bridge aesthetic workshop regarding the Brooks Bridge. The workshop can be accessed anytime, anywhere beginning 12 p.m. (CDT), Thursday, March 18, 2021 at www.nwflroads.com\virtualmeetings.
The workshop provides an opportunity for the public to help FDOT’s bridge architect develop aesthetic guidelines for the project that consider community preferences. Participants will be able to identify what makes the Brooks Bridge unique to the community, provide input regarding preferences on basic shapes and features, identify items of importance to the community that should be considered in the bridge aesthetic design, and provide comments
