Cox Presents Okaloosa County School

District with 150 Computers

Cox Communications recently presented the Marcus Chambers, Superintendent of Schools in Okaloosa County, with a total of 150 computers for low-income students in the district. One hundred desktop computers and 50 laptops were unloaded at the District’s warehouse in Niceville.

“Education has always been a top priority of Cox. Our 120 year old company was founded by a school teacher,” said David Deliman, Gulf Coast market vice president for Cox. READ MORE...

Yes! The City of Fort Walton Beach Fire Dept. has a podcast with Chief Ken Perkins. It will offer biweekly updates on current events and frequently asked questions on public safety topics.

One Hopeful Place Welcomes

New Shelter Manager

Jeff Gabbert, a self-described “career social worker by trade,” recently became the new manager of the nonprofit One Hopeful Place homeless shelter. “I’ve been working with homeless individuals since 1991,” the 58-year-old Fort Walton Beach resident said Friday. “I really enjoy working with this population. I don’t think most people realize how simple it is to become homeless: All it takes is a couple of catastrophic events to put you on the streets.” READ MORE...

In 2020, Destin-Fort Walton Beach launched a travel product designed to promote naturally socially distance experiences. The Adventure Packs pair individual family excursions with local dining and are offered exclusively through Adventure Guides via an online chat.

The Adventure Guides are local moms and hospitality experts. Many participating partners are life-long residents of Destin-Fort Walton Beach.

Most importantly, they are excited to introduce travelers to the activities and sites they have shared with their friends and family for decades.
