THANKSGIVING DAY Farnham & St. John’s “Come as you Are” Thanksgiving Service Farnham Church Side Chapel 10 a.m. Thursday (Please use the church’s side door) A simple prayer service of thanks-giving Bring family and friends. If you can’t come please email, text, call, leave a phone mail message for torrence.harman@aol.com or at 436-7591 with a few words about what you are thankful for at this time. Give it some heart-thought and savor this special thanksgiving “spiritual” practice. I will offer these “thanks” up (without names) in prayer on Thursday. If you or loved ones are traveling during this holiday, please travel safely. You are precious cargo.

“A Celebration of Angels & Light” Sunday, December 9th 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s We’ll gather in the sanctuary for a medley of special music, readings and lighting of candles as we celebrate the coming of the Christmas Light into a winter-darkening world. Our musicians will include Ben Cox on the organ, Arline Hinkson on the violin and Laura Rowe on the flute. Special guests will be the remarkable angels crafted by the talented artist, Kim Papanicolau. Kim will be with us to introduce us to the angels who will “star” at the “light” reception in Wellford Parish Hall following the service.

The Farnham Vestry Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, November 29th   Don't forget to bring your weekly food donation for Richmond County Social Services as a mindful spiritual practice. See Torrence's article  "If Churches Could Talk, They'd Say, Sound Matters" in December's Chesapeake Style . link ("If Churches Could Talk" is her monthly column, usually found on page 7 ) the haven has an adopt-a-family program for Christmas and is sponsoring a Christmas market. They're also looking for donations of warm gloves and hats since it's supposed to be a cold and snowy winter. Click here to find opportunities to help.

BL & C  (Bag Lunch & Conversation) 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Thursdays Last week Healthy Harvest Food Bank's VP & Development Director Cindy Balderson provided us with information about their programming and future plans. They have begun an interesting collaboration with the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic and Virginia Cooperative Extension. The program targets individuals who struggle with obesity, diabetes, pre-diabetes, hypertension and other health related issues. The goal is to transform patient wellness by offering fresh produce, nutrition education, and hands-on cooking classes to teach them healthy eating and living as a way of combating these health issues. They also have a volunteer gleaning program. Here's a link to their 2018 statistics. Our program on the 29th is “ The Underside of Christmas” with Aimee Jenkins from the Salvation Army. This will be the last BL&C of the year in deference to Fireside Tea & Conversation, (see announcement, below.)  BL&C will resume in January.

Advent Thursday Afternoon Fireside Tea & Chat Drop by the Clopton Parlor at St. John’s any time between 2 & 5 p.m . on Advent “Thursdays” (Dec. 6, 13, 20). A time to warm yourself beside the fire and enjoy a warm drink of tea, coffee or cider. Bring a friend if you like. No Agenda. Offered as a time-out from the busy-ness of the season for just time together.
