The Weekly Message
The Last Hurrah of Summer
In this Epistle we celebrate the end of summer with our final highlights from the young people at St. John's and Farnham. While Georges last week had us in the mountains of Virginia at Shrine Mont, the kids this week (Miriam Sisson, Eva and Elena Milsted and Ben, Gracie and Jamie Heltzel) take us out of state and even out of the U.S. Cousins, extended family and even Minnie and Mickey Mouse were summer companions. Enjoy all the kids' summer sharing. As the seasons turn now to Fall, they are back in school and we look forward to cooler weather and perhaps (dear Lord, please) some rain to refresh the land. We now watch nature dress up in colorful finery and find ourselves bathed in the soft golden light that autumn offers. May we experience the richness of this season and like color full leaves on fall trees aglow with golden sun, let the light shine through us.

Shine on,
Torrence

I went to Disney World and Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.

It was really fun in Animal Kingdom when Minnie and Mickey Mouse danced with me. Minnie specially liked my "fannie pack" - how it matched my outfit. Also I spent time with my cousins which was fun and I went to Key West on a really big boat and didn't see any land.
-Miriam Sisson
My summer - I went to Myrtle Beach and I went to Water Country USA and I rode Colossal Curl. I went to Busch Gardens and my favorite ride was the Loch Ness Monster and Appollo's Chariot. We went to the pool a lot. When Momma had to go to work sometimes Lexie or Carrie or Camdin would watch us. And, Emma, our grandma, would watch us sometimes. That is basically all.
-Eva Milsted
This summer we went to Myrtle Beach and Pittsburgh and Kennywood amusement park and stayed in a fancy hotel. Both places were fun. We went to Westmoreland State Park, stayed in a cabin, and hiked around a lot. We went to Busch Gardens and we went to the pool a lot. Yeah - summer was fun! And, now we have school.
-Elena Milsted
This summer I went to Montreal. I got a beanie or a toque, which is a soft knit cap. We went on a zip line. I like Canada because the weather is fair, the food is good, and the people are nice.

-Jamie Heltzel
The highlight of my summer was going to bookstores in Richmond with my friends and mom. I liked hanging out with my friends, talking about books, and eating frozen yogurt.
- Grace Heltzel
This summer I got to hang out with family that I don’t normally see. My cousins from Arkansas came and I enjoyed spending time with them. That whole side of the family is fun and energetic. I got to play music with my cousin, Cora. It’s nice to play music with another person my age.
