MIT SPOKES
Last week, we hosted our fourth MIT Spokes program for students in grades 5–10. Around 80 students participated in hands-on, high-impact STEM workshops designed to ignite curiosity and introduce real-world applications of science and technology. Students came from Louisville and Murray, KY to attend the day. Here’s a look at what they explored: The Power of Machine Learning, The Science of Secrets, From 2D Design to 3D Printing and Blast Off! DIY Bottle Rockets.
Beyond the classroom, this program brought parents into the WKU Innovation Campus -many for the first time. Where two parents made connections with the Regional Technology Council and the Small Business Development Center, organizations they hadn’t previously known about.
As Sam Ford, Executive Director of AccelerateKY and founding partner of InnoEngine, shared: “Each year, having a new group of students come to the Innovation Campus helps grow awareness of our region’s innovation ecosystem. We’re building a stronger, more tech-forward economy—starting with the next generation.”
With the Impact Center for Innovation and Leadership opening soon, local students will gain access to transformative opportunities. Bowling Green is quickly emerging as a hub for future-ready talent. This center has the potential to reshape Warren County’s workforce landscape. Hence why it’s crucial to invest in these students early introducing them to the resources, connections, and innovation happening right here at the WKU Innovation Campus. When we engage them now, we help build a pipeline of talent that stays, grows, and thrives in our local ecosystem.
These 80 students now know what’s inside the WKU Innovation Campus - and what’s possible because of it. Investing in our youth isn't just important; it's essential. They are the future of small business, technology, and leadership in our region. Check out this link to view photos from the day. Read more here - WBKO, WNKY, WKU Herald, BG Daily News
