🚨 Stay Alert: Protect Your Vehicle from Theft🚨

Security Forces continue to actively patrol and have recently responded to an incidents in The Prairies and The Woods housing areas, including thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts. These types of crimes are not isolated to our community - they are occurring throughout the Dayton area and across Ohio.

While some individuals have broken windows to gain access to vehicles, most incidents involve thieves targeting unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and parking areas. Keys, cash, and personal belongings left inside vehicles are the primary items being stolen. In most cases, stolen vehicles have been later recovered off-base in the Dayton area.

The Prairies and The Woods communities are being targeted, and all housing spaces and RV storage areas are at potential risk for thieves.

Security Forces are working closely with base partners and local law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible. Your vigilance is essential to help reduce these incidents.

How you can help:

  • Always lock your vehicle – even when parked at home.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including spare keys.
  • Stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Your awareness and cooperation play a vital role in protecting our community!

If you see anything suspicious or have information related to recent thefts, please contact the Base Defense Operations Section at (937) 257-6516.

PET LEASH REMINDER

For the safety of all residents and pets, please remember that all dogs must be leashed and secured at all times and under the control of someone who is capable of controlling them when outside your fenced backyard.

A leash is a line or rope that attaches to a pet's collar or harness to control and restrain it. Leashes are used to keep pets safe, to comply with community policies, and to manage pets in public spaces.

Electronic collars do not meet the requirement of having a dog leashed.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone.

A FRIENDLY REMINDER ABOUT "CURB ALERTS"

As a community, we love seeing neighbors "pay it forward" by offering gently used items to others who may need them. However, to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and free of clutter, we ask that residents follow our guidelines for curbside placement.

Items may only be placed at the curb within 24 hours of your scheduled trash day and should be intended for disposal as part of the normal trash or recycling pick-up. Any items placed outside this window may be tagged for removal.

While we appreciate the generosity behind "curb alerts" or free items set out for others to take, please do not place giveaway items at the curb. Instead, we encourage residents to use alternative pickup locations, such as:

  • In front of your garage door
  • On your front porch
  • Any other spot close to your home that does not resemble curbside trash placement

Using these alternative locations help prevent confusion for our trash collectors, keeps our community tidy, and ensures that items meant for reuse stay out of the landfill!

Thank you for helping keep our neighborhoods beautiful and supporting a cleaner, more organized environment for everyone!

SNOW REMOVAL POLICIES & PROCEDURES

With winter weather approaching, please keep the following in mind:

  • Residents are responsible for clearing snow from driveways, porches, and sidewalks within 50 feet of their home.

  • Please avoid parking on roadways during active snowfall. This helps our team clear streets more efficiently and safely.

  • Street parking may resume once snow removal is complete and roads have been fully cleared.

Gas Line and Fence Replacement Updates for Legacy Homes

The gas line and fencing projects for The Prairies Legacy homes are wrapping up for the season and will resume in the spring. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as these improvements continue.

For residents who have received new privacy fencing, please note that wooden slats may produce splinters. If you notice excessive splintering, contact Maintenance so we can address it promptly. We also ask that gates be closed gently and that you avoid forcing the locking mechanisms closed - this helps keep the gates in good condition.

If your gate is not latching properly or you experience any issues, please submit a maintenance request. Addressing concerns early helps prevent damage and potential resident charges.

A friendly reminder for the fencing project: locks must be removed from sheds while work is being performed. Leaving locks or hanging items in place creates delays and requires additional time and resources for our team to remove them. To keep the project on schedule, please ensure all personal items and locks are removed before work begins.

Thank you for helping us maintain these improvements and keep the project running smoothly!
