Winter Storm Fern
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue clearing streets and parking areas following Winter Storm Fern.
Our primary routes are open and passable, though not yet perfect. Crews have been working throughout the week and are currently focused on parking areas and secondary streets. Once those are complete, they will return to primary routes for additional clearing.
Record-breaking snowfall of more than 12 inches fell in a short period of time! That is a significant amount of snow to move, especially with limited areas available for piling. Bitterly cold temperatures also reduced the effectiveness of chemical treatments, making snow and ice removal even more challenging. Across The Prairies and The Woods, our teams are responsible for maintaining over 300 acres and miles of roadways. Just because you may not see crews on your street at a given time does not mean they are not actively clearing snow elsewhere. Our crews have been working 12- to 18-hour shifts all week to clear every street as quickly and safely as possible.
The base closure and Level 3 emergency kept many residents at home the first few days, which further complicated plowing efforts with vehicles remaining in streets and parking areas.
We understand how frustrating the delays can be, and we truly appreciate your patience as this work continues. Please know our teams are doing everything possible to restore safe conditions throughout the community.
We also ask that neighbors be kind and considerate to one another during this time.
We also want to extend a sincere thank-you to all of our maintenance staff for their hard work during this storm. They have been working around the clock to get PWF back to normal.
Thank you again for your patience and for looking out for one another during this time.
Stay safe and warm,
Tonya Patrick
